HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR SURGERY:

PRE-OPERATIVE TESTING:

If you have been given instructions for pre-operative testing please do not complete these tests until you have been given a date for your surgery. You may have been given orders for blood or urine tests, a chest x-ray, EKG or a request for special clearance from another one of your physicians. All tests must be within 30 days of your surgery but, if possible, no later than 10 days prior to your surgery.

AVAILABLE TESTING FACILITIES:

Blood work or urine tests: Sonora Quest or LabCorp – contact your insurance if you have questions regarding coverage

No fasting required, no appointment needed

Chest x-ray: Valley Radiology, Simon Medical Imaging or Phoenix Diagnostic Imaging - contact your insurance if you have questions regarding coverage

No appointment needed

EKG: Please schedule with your primary care physician

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:

If you are over 65 or have multiple health issues, you will need to get medical clearance from your primary care physician before we can schedule your surgery. Please schedule an appointment with your primary care physician and notify our surgery scheduler by e-mail at vstone@canyonstateurology.com with the date of your appointment.

If you have a history of heart problems such as heart disease, heart attack, etc, you will need to get clearance from your cardiologist prior to scheduling your surgery. Please schedule an appointment with your cardiologist and notify Valarie by e-mail at vstone@canyonstateurology.com with the date of your appointment.

SPECIAL SURGERY PREP INSTRUCTIONS: If you take aspirin or any medication that is a blood thinner you must stop taking these mediations 7 days prior to surgery. Blood thinners are in such over the counter medications as regular aspirin, Excedrin, Motrin, ibuprofen, weight loss aids, Pepto Bismol, Fish Oil, and herbal supplements as well as many prescription medications such as Coumadin, Plavix, Warfarin, Naprosyn, Celebrex and other medications taken for arthritis. If you are unsure if any medication you take contains a blood thinner please contact the prescribing physician or your pharmacist.

SURGERY FACILITIES:

Our physicians perform surgeries at Banner Thunderbird Hospital, Arrowhead Hospital and Pinnacle Surgery Center.
